About This Scheme

Free food grains of 5 kg per person per month to NFSA beneficiaries across India.

Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana provides free food grains of 5 kg per person per month to NFSA beneficiaries in addition to their entitlement under the Public Distribution System. It was launched during the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure food security for the poor and has been extended in subsequent phases. Rice and wheat are distributed free of cost through Fair Price Shops and the benefit is portable nationwide through One Nation One Ration Card.

Benefits

Free food grains of 5 kg per person per month for priority households and 35 kg per Antyodaya family, distributed through Fair Price Shops.

Eligibility

All NFSA beneficiaries including Priority Households and Antyodaya Anna Yojana families across India.

Who Can Apply

Existing NFSA ration card holders automatically receive the benefit, while non-holders can apply for a ration card under NFSA.

Who Cannot Apply

Persons not holding a valid NFSA ration card and households above the NFSA eligibility criteria.

Application Process

Eligible ration card holders collect free grains from the Fair Price Shop by e-KYC authentication. New beneficiaries can apply through the state ration card portal.
