About This Scheme

Free skill training and employment support for women to enhance employability and self employment.

Support to Training and Employment Programme for Women (STEP) is a central scheme of the Ministry of Women and Child Development that provides skill training to women to make them economically self reliant. Training is imparted in market oriented trades such as beautician, tailoring, computer literacy, food processing, handicrafts and retail. Assistance covers training cost, stipend, kit allowance and post training placement or self employment support.

Eligibility

Women aged 15 years and above, particularly from SC, ST, OBC, BPL, minority and underprivileged sections of society.

Who Can Apply

Women who wish to acquire vocational skills for wage employment or self employment, including school dropouts and homemakers.

Who Cannot Apply

Men, women already enrolled in a regular full time course, government employees and applicants below 15 years of age.

Application Process

Apply through the district women and child development office or the notified training partner. Training is conducted at designated centres and stipend is paid through DBT.
