About This Scheme

Puducherry Self-Employment Scheme supports self-employment and wage employment for unemployed and underemployed youth of Puducherry.

Puducherry Self-Employment Scheme is the employment and livelihood scheme of the Government of Puducherry implemented by the Labour Department and the district employment offices. It provides financial assistance, interest subsidy on bank loans, skill training and placement support to unemployed and underemployed youth so that they can start their own income generating activity or secure wage employment. Self-employed beneficiaries receive credit linkage with banks along with a state subsidy, while wage employment is provided through works taken up by local bodies.

Subsidy and interest subsidy on self-employment loans, stipend during skill training, wage employment opportunities, placement support and marketing assistance for products and services.

Eligibility

Permanent residents of Puducherry aged between 18 and 45 years who are unemployed or underemployed and possess the required skill, qualification or a viable business or project plan.

Who Can Apply

Unemployed youth, artisans, self help group members, skilled and semi-skilled workers and small entrepreneurs residing in Puducherry.

Who Cannot Apply

Government servants, pensioners, income tax payees, bank defaulters and persons already receiving similar benefits under another state employment scheme.

Application Process

1. Register on the official Puducherry employment or rojgar portal or at the nearest District Employment Office. 2. Fill the application and upload Aadhaar Card, Residence Proof, qualification certificates, Bank Passbook, Caste Certificate (if applicable) and a Project Report in case of self-employment. 3. Appear for counselling and verification by the District Employment Officer. 4. Approved applicants are linked with banks for loan and subsidy or with skill training centres and wage employment works. 5. Subsidy, stipend or loan is released through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) or credit linkage as per the scheme norms.
