About This Scheme

Free LPG connection with deposit support to women from poor households for clean cooking fuel.

Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana provides LPG connections to women belonging to poor households in order to replace unhealthy cooking fuels such as firewood, coal and dung with clean LPG. The scheme provides a deposit free LPG connection with a first refill subsidy and a stove at a subsidised price. It was later extended to cover additional eligible families beyond the initial SECC 2011 criteria.

Deposit free LPG connection, first refill and stove at subsidised cost, PMUY cash support and continued LPG subsidy under PAHAL.

Eligibility

Adult women belonging to poor households as per SECC 2011 criteria or notified beneficiary lists, with no existing LPG connection in the family.

Who Can Apply

Adult women aged 18 years and above from poor households who do not have an existing LPG connection, including SC, ST, PMAY-G, AAY, forest dwellers and most backward classes.

Who Cannot Apply

Families already holding an LPG connection, applicants below 18 years of age, male applicants since the connection is issued in the name of the woman head of household.

Application Process

Submit Form 1 at any LPG distribution centre or authorised gas agency with KYC documents, or apply online through the Ujjwala portal. Connection is issued after KYC verification.
