About This Scheme

Maternity benefit of Rs.5,000 to pregnant and lactating mothers for the first living child.

Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana is a centrally sponsored maternity benefit scheme implemented by the Ministry of Women and Child Development. It provides a cash incentive of Rs.5,000 in instalments to pregnant women and lactating mothers for the first living child, to partially compensate for wage loss and improve nutrition. Pregnant and lactating mothers who are in regular employment with maternity benefit under the Maternity Benefit Act are excluded.

Benefits

Cash incentive of Rs.5,000 in three instalments directly to the bank account, plus Rs.6,000 under Janani Suraksha Yojana if applicable.

Eligibility

Pregnant women and lactating mothers aged 19 years and above for the first living child, who are not salaried and do not receive paid maternity benefit.

Who Can Apply

Pregnant and lactating women in non salaried employment, including farmers, informal workers and self employed women, for their first living child.

Who Cannot Apply

Women in regular employment with paid maternity leave, government servants, women whose family pays income tax, mothers with an existing surviving child.

Application Process

Register at the Anganwadi Centre or approved health facility by submitting Form 1A with Aadhaar and bank details. Instalments are released as per milestones of pregnancy and immunisation.
