About This Scheme

Guaranteed pension of Rs.1,000 to Rs.5,000 per month after age 60 for unorganised sector workers.

Atal Pension Yojana (APY) is a guaranteed pension scheme administered by the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority for workers in the unorganised sector. Subscribers choose a pension amount between Rs.1,000 and Rs.5,000 per month which begins after the age of 60, and the same amount is assured to the spouse after the subscriber death. Contribution amounts vary with entry age and chosen pension slab and can be paid monthly, quarterly or half-yearly.

Benefits

Guaranteed pension of Rs.1,000 to Rs.5,000 per month after 60 years, assured pension to spouse, accumulation refunded to nominee, tax benefit under Section 80CCD(1B).

Eligibility

Savings bank account holders aged 18 to 40 years who are not income tax payers. One account per subscriber, linked to the savings bank account with auto-debit facility.

Who Can Apply

Any Indian citizen aged 18 to 40 years with a savings bank account and Aadhaar, willing to contribute towards the chosen pension slab.

Who Cannot Apply

Income tax payers, persons already covered under any statutory social security scheme, subscribers with more than one APY account.

Application Process

Fill Form 1 for self or Form 2 with nominee at any bank branch or through net banking and mobile banking. Auto-debit mandate must be registered for contribution collection.
